SuperSka brings you the best in old-school ska, rock-steady and reggae, featuring veteran players from the Boston ska & reggae scene. Over the last thirty years, the members of SuperSka have helped found groups like Bim Skala Bim, Heavy Metal Horns, Ska’d For Life, Steady Earnest and the Duppy Conquerors, while playing and recording with a “who’s who” of classic ska and reggae artists, including Prince Buster, Laurel Aitken, Derrick Morgan, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis, Bad Manners, Sugar Minott, Mikey Dread and Lee “Scratch” Perry.
So put on your dancing shoes and enjoy a night of classic grooves.
The SubVersions will be bringing their organ-fired blend of soul, reggae and funk back to Sally O’Brien’s on Thursday, February 16. This is an early show, 6-9, so hope to see you there.
Please join us to pay tribute to this legendary man who was so closely tied to Providence and New England for the last 25 years. Soulshot will host and SuperSka will perform as well. We expect many Skatalites members to attend. All are welcome, musicians and bands and invited to come and join us on stage. TBC Jamaican cuisine will be offered and we are suggesting a $10 donation.
Please spread the word to all who knew him as they may not have Facebook. Soulshot will do this in NYC on March 13 at Sullivan Hall and hope to announce a Boston event asap. See you there !
SUPERSKA are pleased to announce the creation of a spin-off group, THE SUBVERSIONS.
The SubVersions are a stripped-down, organ-fueled combo featuring the SuperSka rhythm section and our good friend Ken Stewart (Skatalites, Agitators, etc.) on keyboards.
Come check out our debut appearance on Tuesday, December 13 at Sally O’Brien’s. This is an early show from 6:00 – 9:00pm.
On November 18, we’re returning to Sally O’Brien’s. As always, this will feature two sets, no cover, and as many special guests as we can drag along.
This show will feature Ken Stewart (longtime member of The Skatalites — note: this website plays music!) on keys and John Vanderpool (of Heavy Metal Horns and Sun Jones) on sax.
On Saturday, November 26, we return to The Barley Pub in Dover, NH. Sponsored by WXGR-FM.
