Come celebrate the life and music of one of the most influential musicians ever to come out of Jamaica. Lloyd Knibb (who passed away last year at the age of 80) helped invent the ska beat, founded the Skatalites, and lived in Massachusetts for the last 20+ years of his life, acting as a friend, mentor and occasional bandmate to hundreds of local musicians.

In March, we will pay tribute to this one-of-a-kind musician with a series of concerts to help raise money for his widow, Enid.

The first two shows, in RI and MA, will feature SuperSka, Soul Shot, and as many of Lloyd’s friends and admirers as we can fit onstage.

The lineup for the NY show is still being finalized but it is sure to feature many special guest performers.

Next, for St. Patrick’s Day, we will be appearing at Beatnik’s in Worcester with the BEATDOWN from Montreal. (Facebook event)

The SubVersions will be bringing their organ-fired blend of soul, reggae and funk back to Sally O’Brien’s on Thursday, February 16. This is an early show, 6-9, so hope to see you there.

Please join us to pay tribute to this legendary man who was so closely tied to Providence and New England for the last 25 years. Soulshot will host and SuperSka will perform as well. We expect many Skatalites members to attend. All are welcome, musicians and bands and invited to come and join us on stage. TBC Jamaican cuisine will be offered and we are suggesting a $10 donation.

Please spread the word to all who knew him as they may not have Facebook. Soulshot will do this in NYC on March 13 at Sullivan Hall and hope to announce a Boston event asap. See you there !

On Saturday, January 28, we return to The Barley Pub in Dover, NH, for a full-dose of SuperSka.

SUPERSKA are pleased to announce the creation of a spin-off group, THE SUBVERSIONS.

The SubVersions are a stripped-down, organ-fueled combo featuring the SuperSka rhythm section and our good friend Ken Stewart (Skatalites, Agitators, etc.) on keyboards.

Come check out our debut appearance on Tuesday, December 13 at Sally O’Brien’s. This is an early show from 6:00 – 9:00pm.
